Fuel Your Faith with Today’s Word: A Verse to Keep You Going When Life Gets Tough

Thorn Ville Church – We all face seasons of uncertainty, loss, stress, and inner doubt. Whether it’s a job we didn’t get, a loved one we lost, a relationship that ended, or just the weariness of the daily grind, these moments can feel like waves crashing endlessly over us. And in the midst of it all, we might find ourselves asking, “Where is God?” That’s exactly why we need to fuel our faith not when things are easy, but especially when life gets tough. The truth is, God never promised a life without storms, but He did promise His presence in the middle of them.

One Bible verse that has strengthened millions through hard times is this:

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
(Isaiah 40:31, NIV)

This verse is not just poetic encouragement; it is a promise from the God who sees your every struggle and is ready to give you strength.

What This Verse Really Means

At a glance, Isaiah 40:31 might seem like a motivational quote, but its power lies in its context. The chapter speaks to a people worn down by exile, waiting on deliverance, tired of hoping. It reminds us that God does not grow tired or weary, and His understanding is beyond ours (Isaiah 40:28).

To “hope in the Lord” isn’t passive it means to actively trust, to look upward when life pushes us downward, and to believe that something greater is coming even when we can’t see it yet. It’s the kind of hope that lifts our heads when everything around us says we should give up.

And what is the result of that kind of hope? Renewed strength. Not strength that we create, but strength that God supplies. This strength allows us to:

  • Soar above our circumstances like eagles above the storm.
  • Run through seasons that demand perseverance.
  • Walk day by day, when the journey feels long and slow.

Faith Isn’t the Absence of Fear It’s Trusting God Despite It

Sometimes people think that strong faith means never feeling afraid, worried, or tired. But the Bible shows us countless examples of faithful people who felt just like us:

  • David wept and cried out to God in the Psalms.
  • Elijah asked God to take his life during deep depression.
  • Even Jesus, in His humanity, wept and felt the weight of grief.

Real faith doesn’t ignore the pain it brings the pain to God. And as we pour our hearts out to Him, His Word becomes the fuel our souls need to keep going.

It’s okay to be tired. It’s okay to ask for help. And it’s more than okay to lean on God’s promises when we feel like we’re running on empty of fuel of faith.

What You Can Do Today

If you’re in a tough place right now, here are a few things you can do to refuel your faith with God’s Word:

  1. Pray Isaiah 40:31 aloud. Declare it over your life, even if you don’t feel strong yet.
  2. Write the verse somewhere visible. Put it on your mirror, phone wallpaper, or journal.
  3. Listen to worship music that reminds you of God’s power and presence.
  4. Talk to someone you trust about what you’re going through. Faith is fueled in community.
  5. Rest. Sometimes, the most spiritual thing you can do is rest and let God carry you for a while.

The more you soak in Scripture, the more your heart will remember that you are not walking alone.

Let Your Story Be a Testimony

The season you’re walking through right now is not the end of your story. With every step, you are building a testimony a story of how God met you, lifted you, and carried you through the fire. Someday, the strength you’re gaining now will be the encouragement someone else needs.

So don’t give up. Keep showing up. Keep reading His Word, even when you feel nothing. Keep praying, even when you don’t know what to say. God is nearer than you think, and His strength is coming.

You are not weak because you’re tired. You are not faithless because you’re struggling. You are human. And God delights in lifting up the weary.

Today’s verse isn’t just a nice phrase – it’s a reminder to fuel your faith: God is your source of strength, and He will carry you until you can fly again.
